Serial Device Communications
KellyGraham specialise in installation, configuration and troubleshooting of all types of serial device hardware connected over an RS485 2 wire network. This is the most common arrangement found on solar farm installations in the UK. We can help diagnose issues with MODbus and CANbus equipment installed on your site using specialist hardware and software including mbpoll and modpoll to test communication at serial level or via a gateway.
Serial Gateways
Field device level equipment, for example, string combiner boxes, pyranometers, temperature sensors and weather stations will most commonly be connected over an RS485 network, 2/3 wire arrangement back to a central hub/serial gateway. The gateway will then convert the serial data to be able to travel back to the main comms equipment via the ethernet standard. The most common serial protocols used are CANbus and MODbus. Configuration of serial device equipment and its associated gateway is crucial for data exchange to take place, these devices are not plug & play.
We can help with all makes and models of serial hardware installation and configuration and ensure you have configuration backups and documentation to ensure a quick turnaround to minimise downtime of failed equipment.
