Case Study: Standardising Comms Across a Major Portfolio

We were recently approached by a major Operation & Maintenance provider looking to upgrade their entire portfolio of sites from satellite comms to 4G. Here is how we delivered a robust, scalable network device communications solution:

• Hardware Standardisation: We standardised the hardware across all sites to make maintenance, engineer training, and spare parts management much simpler.
• Remote Management Platform: We selected a router manufacturer with a powerful web-based portal, allowing the client to handle password management, configuration backups, and monthly reporting statistics remotely.
• Secure Access: Port forwarding rules were mitigated, and access was securely managed directly from the router portal by generating temporary access tokens for remote devices.
• Overcoming Signal Attenuation: Because most routers were installed inside steel storage containers, we compensated for the expected signal drop by installing omni-directional external antennas.
• Built-in Redundancy: We installed multi-network SIMs to bypass the need for prior 4G signal surveys and ensure automatic failover during local network outages.
